Sustainability and Energy Audits

Sustainability and Energy Audits provide a clear understanding of the environmental and energy performance of buildings and facilities. The audits play a crucial role in decision making to enact multiple goals such as reducing energy consumption, lowering operating expenditure, minimizing environmental impact as well as maximizing return on investment. Through the audits, energy and cost-saving opportunities will be identified while meeting the needs of your organization and the well-being of the building occupants.

Our energy audits, procedures and requirements adhere to international standards – International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol (IPMVP), Singapore Green Mark standard, and American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) where applicable. Preliminary Analysis of Energy / Water / Resources will be performed as an essential first step which involves analysing the historical usage, establishing profiles as well as benchmarking the property’s performance. Walk-Through Analysis will also be conducted to gain insights on the general characteristics of the property, design and configuration of all significant resources consuming systems, procurement, ongoing operational procedures and whatnot.

On top of that, field measurements are taken, particularly focusing on the property's major energy consuming systems. High accuracy tools and investment grade instruments are used to study the performance parameters of the equipment and system for further evaluation. Also, following the establishment of the property’s performance, the potential cost saving and performance improvement opportunities will be identified. In addition, capital funding will be required for recommended modifications as well as for energy management strategy, these will be introduced during the audit results.

Economic analysis, such as life cycle costing, will be adopted holistically to exploit all possible options that require capital expenditure. A diverse range of buildings and facilities, including office buildings, hotels, resorts, etc., have already experienced improved energy efficiency and sustainability through our audit services.

Located in the prime district 1 of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Park Hyatt Saigon is one of the most luxurious Hyatt Chain with 245 rooms/suites, world-class restaurants and facilities. The 10-years old hotel had undergone major Additions and Alteration which included the upgrading of its chiller plant in 2015 after our Energy Audit.

Other than better quality and improved energy efficiency of lighting, Park Hyatt Saigon’s new air conditioning plant.  achieved 37% less carbon footprint compared to before the upgrading.

Katong Shopping Centre

Katong Shopping Centre is a shopping mall with office spaces constructed in 1971 located along Mountbatten Road. It was Singapore's first fully air-conditioned retail mall when it opened to the public in 1973. Through the energy audit conducted for this nostalgic mall, improvement plans with great potential of cost reduction were explored and introduced to the MCST.

After the Energy Audit, the MCST accepted our proposal to upgrade the Chiller Plant. The upgraded chiller plant with an average plant efficiency of 0.58 kW/RT was handed over in April 2020.

The nostalgic mall is currently 47% more energy efficient with a projected energy saving of about $200,000 yearly.

Republic Plaza

Being one of Singapore’s tallest skyscrapers located at the heart of Central Business District, Republic Plaza is a Grade A office building with BCA Green Mark Platinum award. In line with the building owner’s commitment towards environmental sustainability, we are proud to support City Developments Limited (CDL) in their sustainability journey. Chiller Plant efficiency improvement plans were identified with reference to our detailed findings in the energy audit.

The effort which we carried out throughout the years managed to bring down the energy consumption of air conditioning system by 43%. The chiller plant is operating in the efficiency of better than 0.60 kW/RT since 7 years ago.
